To our Colonial Church Family:

Nearly two years ago the Lord led our family to Indianapolis, Indiana and the ministry here at Colonial Hills Baptist Church. At that time we left the security of family and the stability of the familiar to serve God with our lives in a new and challenging way. Since our arrival at Colonial, God has continually confirmed His providential leading in our lives. We have been privileged to experience the blessing of a rapidly growing and maturing youth ministry. We presently enjoy the support of a most capable and godly youth staff as well as the encouragement of dedicated parents and loyal teens. We have grown under the leadership of a capable and compassionate pastor. We have seen the Lord add to our family and bless our ministry.

Recently the Lord brought before us a ministry opportunity. We were convicted that we needed to be willing to follow His leading, wherever it may be. God unexpectedly opened "a great door" (I Corinthians 16:9). Surrendering to His leading has not been easy for us because our family and security is now in Indianapolis. But after having spent time in prayer, and through the counsel of God's Word and His people, we have come to the growing conviction that the time has come for us to enter into this new phase of ministry.

Thus, we now submit our resignation as Youth Pastor of Colonial Hills Baptist Church effective July 31, 2012. We have accepted a call to serve on the full time staff of the Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, North Carolina, beginning August 1, 2012. The Wilds is not unfamiliar to our church family here in Indianapolis, as it has served as a partner in ministry for over fifty years. We hope that our relationships with the teens and many others at Colonial will continue as we fill our future position at the Wilds.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to our church family, which has so quickly grown dear to our hearts. We praise the Lord for His faithfulness to us and for His blessings here at Colonial, and can honestly say that we believe the Lord is moving us from a great youth group and wonderful youth staff. It has been a privilege to serve here. Pastor Phelps is a loving, caring pastor who has mentored me in ministry and has exemplified what the Bible teaches about standing for Christ amid the trials of life and attacks of the enemy. I am honored to have been mentored by him and to have witnessed his leadership and Christlike testimony.

We love the youth of Colonial with all of our hearts and will miss them greatly. But we know that God loves them more, and that He has the perfect man to continue the work He has done through us. I will be praying for your wisdom in knowing whom the Lord would have to fill the position of Youth Pastor.

We love every one of you in the Lord and covet your prayers as we are brought to your remembrance.

In Christ,

Joseph K. Fant
Youth Pastor

I spent the day today running the Indianapolis 500 mini marathon (13.1 miles). The race went pretty well, other than the fact that I got beat by approximately 20,000 people. I ran it in 2:32:03. Praise the Lord for safety and strength! Here are some pictures and videos...sorry they are really bumpy, I couldn't exactly stop without getting trampled.

If you have not seen little Karis Fant and would like to come by today we will be taking visitors from 1-3pm! Karis has to stay in the hospital until 7pm tonight so we will be going home this evening. Thank you all for your prayers and support!

Becky went into active labor on Wednesday about 4:30pm. Karis was born Thursday evening at 6:52pm, weighed 8lbs 1oz, and measured 20 1/2 inches long. Thank you all for your prayers and support and we praise the Lord for His goodness and mercy! Both mother and baby are doing well.

VISITATION: If you would like to come visit we are at Saint Vincent Carmel room 315. We will be accepting visitors Friday Sept. 30th after 2:00pm.

Thursday we had family reunions! This means that we met together for a time of testimony and fellowship as a church...gathered around klondike bars and soda. Does it get any better?! It was such a blessing to hear how the Lord is working in our teens and our Juniors and how they are making decisions for Him and taking the next step in their spiritual lives!

The Thursday activities included a hike for the girls (both to 2nd and 4th falls) and swim time for the guys at the lake or free time on the campsite. The guy sponsors had the opportunity to go down to the lake to show the teen guys how to really blob somebody...and Stephen Davenport conquered his fears on the 30 foot jump off tower. Stephanie went on the hike with the girls and said that it went really well and that they had a blast.

See the pics below for more details!

Wednesday is always a day that is much looked forward to at camp. Every morning starts with breakfast for the campers, then chapel. After chapel, the campers head to a private spot to have their God and I Time. This is the daily devotional time that each camper has. After the devotional time, each cabin participates in God and I Time Followup. This is a time set aside where each camper can discuss what he is learning from God's Word with the cabin and the counselor can elaborate on some of the major points of the Bible study.

The afternoon was filled with fun activities like the lake for the girls and the hike for the guys. Both 2nd and 4th falls (mountain waterfalls...4th being 135 feet tall) are located on the Wilds property (over 1000 acres) are beautiful!

After supper, Morris Gleiser and Bob Roberts preached a wonderful gospel message! While walking down to the service we spotted somebody we recognized...the Nelsons! They are doing well in Greenville and the Lord has just opened up a house for them right next to their parents. After the service we were able to attend the legendary Wilds Funtime!

So far everyone is having a blast and we are seeing the Lord work! To Him be the praise and glory!

I love camp! I love seeing campers walking through the campsite with a smile on their face and enjoying the campsite. The day today was filled with fun and excitement for both the Junior Campers and the Teen Campers. The teen guys went to the lake and the junior guys went on a hike to the 1st falls. Meanwhile the girls had free time around the campsite...I hear rumors of some of the teen girls doing the superslide 5+ times during their free time today. Each evening the campers meet to hear the preaching of the Word by either Bob Roberts (Juniors) or Morris Gleiser (Teens). Pray the the Lord will use His Word to change hearts and challenge lives!

So far so good! Today has been filled with nap time (my favorite), God and I Time, and watching "Finding Nemo" (for those of us blessed enough to be on the travel bus). We will be stopping in about an hour for an early lunch then on to Knoxville to pick up Talmadge Williams, then on to camp!

Today there was one thing on all of the teen's mind...Boston! Pastor Tim Lewis met us at the Boston Aquarium and led us on a tour through the Christian heritage that is in Boston, Massachusetts. We left New Hampshire about 7:30 this morning and arrived in Boston about 10:00. We walked through the Old North Church which was made famous by Paul Revere hanging the lanterns (remember the poem, "one if by land and two if by sea"). It was amazing to see the grave of Cotton Mather, one of the pastors of the past who helped form the Christian heritage and history of America. Pastor Tim was a wealth of information about Christian history in America (however we had to totally ignore any attempts that Caleb Phelps made to try to explain history in Boston because they were always wrong...thanks Caleb).

We stopped at Mike's Pastries for their world famous cannolis (they were GREAT), then off to Quincy Market for lunch where we met up with Jon and Joy Fry. They are doing great and little Brooklyn is as cute as ever.

Right now we are on our way back to Valley Forge Baptist to spend the night before the long trek home tomorrow. ETA right now is about 6:00pm but I will have all of the teens call home to update. Until tomorrow...

P.S. Because of the lack of sleep for our bus driver, we are now captained by none other than the famous Rick Harrison himself... (those pictures were probably not staged just to scare Pastor Thomas)

Here are some pictures from the service at Emmanuel Wednesday night and the volleyball tournament on Thursday. We surprised the teens on Thursday night and drove up to the new The Wilds of New England! Mr. Rand gave us a tour of the camp and explained how God has miraculously worked in New England to provide the camp and the campers. The camp is beautiful and is doing a wonderful job reaching New England!
